Biochar

You are here:

When unstable carbon-enriched materials are thermally converted into stable carbon-enriched charred materials, a solid product known as biochar is created. This product can be added to soil for agronomic or environmental reasons. Among the few advantages of using biochar as a soil amendment are improved soil fertility, nutrient immobilisation, and slow-release carbon storage. These are the reasons why biochar has garnered a lot of attention for soil improvements. These improved qualities are the outcome of the combined effects of pesticide treatment and modifications to soil microbial activity.
